add a windows server client and exsi and vcenter to cell manager

I have a problem connecting to the Windows server, it shows me the error 110:1024.

I have a problem with vcenter and exsi, it doesn't even ask me for the password. it tells me a connection problem 110:1027. but when I said import a client and chose vmware exsi it tells me that VEPA is not used on any component.

    Hi,

Why don't you just install VEPA on a backup host first? That should resolve the issue.

  • it is during the import of the vmware client that it asks me that, and I can't install vepa on vmware.

But you would not see that message if you would have vepa installed somewhere in the cell. Here's my recommendation:

    • Or you already have VEPA installed and that means there is a problem. In that case, I suggest to create debugs of the failing import and provide those together with screen shots and your cell_info file to support after elevating a case.
    • Or you do not have VEPA installed yet. In that case decide which client will be your backup host and install VEPA there before importing the ESXi host.

I can't install vepa, maybe my downloaded folder is incomplete, could you email me a Zip or send me the link. the whole dataprotector installation folder.

I saw on youtube bundlePatch in the installation is it necessary.

You can download software packages from our Software Licenses and Downloads site which you will reach from the Support Portal.

Regarding what you will need: if it is on a Windows client, you can either install locally from install media or you can push the VEPA component from an Installation Server. If you do not have a Windows Installation server available in the cell then you can also install that one from the installation media and import it into the cell. After that you can push the agent.

Just out of curiousity, what is the DP version you are using?

I thank you for your help you are really great

the version of dataprotector is 11.

otherwise i sent you screenshots, so to add an EXSI or vcenter client i will install a linux application server.

I installed DP on windows and then the windows application server installs automatically.

Tell me about the domain, is it mandatory to use the same domain for the client and the cell manager. Because I wanted to add a client to cell manager and it shows me error 110:1024.
I just put it on the same network but we don't use domain here.

  • Please tell me when exactly you get that message. What does it mean: "I wanted to add a client". Are you importing a client which is already installed? Or are you trying to install a client? Does that mean you already have an Installation Server in the cell? Please explain what is there and what not and let us know what exactly you are doing when you see this message.

Here is what the message usually means:

[110:1024] Cannot start the Data Protector bootstrap service on client :

The Data Protector bootstrap service was successfully installed on the remote client
but it could not be started. The Windows NT system error should tell more about
    the problem.
Most probable cause for this is that the Installation Server is not available
or that the OmniBack share on the Installation Server is not accessible or it does not exist.
Also make sure that the installservice.exe file exists on that share.

    * Make sure that the Installation Server is available and visible on the network.
    * If the OmniBack share on the Installation Server does not exist, reinstall the Installation Server.
    * If installservice.exe is not at the proper location on the Installation Server, reinstall the Installation Server.
To check that the OmniBack share on the Installation Server exists, and that the appropriate executable
can be accessed, go to the client system you want to install and run:
    dir \\<IS_computer>\OmniBack\i386\installservice.exe
    from the MS-DOS prompt.

  • I have installed cell manager on a windows system.

As you can see on the pictures, I also have an installation server that installs during the installation of cell manager.

See the screenshot on the link I sent and answer it.

If not, is it mandatory to use active directory to use dataprotector.

to add vmware as a dataprotector client, will I install a linux install server

OK, so you have just 1 system currently. But you have an installation server on your cell server. So you should be able to push the VEPA client to this system (which is both a server and a client). I do not have the French localization, but in English the component is called "Virtual Environment Integration". I guess you must see it when you scroll down. Just push that client to your system. Once that is done you should be able to import your ESXi server or vCenter server. And basic functionality shoul even work with this Windows backup host (VEPA client), even for Linux VM's. You can at least test this. Later on, you may want to add a Linux backup host also if required, as there are some limitations about the cross-platform functionality.
