detail catalog error

while running a particular backup, I got the error message below.  First time I've seen this.

Following error occurred while storing detail catalog

information for device "Drive 6"

with loaded medium "dcd80a0a:5509970b:1958:0001" [[000240L3] 000240L3]

to Data Protector Internal Database:

There is no more space available in any of the Detail Catalog directories.

From this point on, all objects on this medium

will have logging switched to "No Log".

  • Good day halcanites,

You may also want to run this command : omnidbutil -extendinfo which will give you an extensive db store report.

Pay close attention to Maximum Size and Current Size. This will help to figure out which component needs to be extended.

  • This is actually pretty easy to deal with .

In the Internal Database context, expand Usage, and expand Detail Catalog Binary Files.  Right-click on Detail Catalog Binary Files, and from the drop-down, pick Add Detail Catalog Directory (it is the only choice).  This will bring up a new screen "Add Detail Catalog Directory"

Go back to your list of existing Detail Catalog Binary Files directories, and find the highest number, for example "dcbf3"

IN the "Add Detail Catalog Directory" window, click the Browse button, and navigate to the exact same folder as all the other DCBF directories, add a new one, one number higher.  For example, if the highest DCBF is 'dcbf3', make your new one 'dcbf'4'

If 'dcbf' ad no number (default), make th new one 'dcbf1'.  Click Finish
