(DP) Support Tip: Blue Screen of Death (BSoD) Error Code HPEDPHSMX64 is seen on Data Protector systems.
This problem only affects Data Protector (DP) running on Windows.
This problem may be seen with DP versions 9.x to DP 10.50 with the Vepa(GRE) component installed.
With DP 10.60 the problem may be seen with Disk Agent and/or the Vepa(GRE) component installed.
What systems should the Solution below be applied to
Give priority to DP Windows systems showing the BSoD error.
Optionally apply the Solution to other systems that meet the DP version and component criteria listed.
For Data Protector 10.60 systems, showing this problem, install
DP1060_b154_OCTCR19Q768219_OCTIM19Q696277 _HF1_win .zip
This patch includes a fix to solve this error for DP 10.60.
For DP versions 9.x to DP 10.50 showing this problem...
Obtain the patch DP1060_b154_OCTCR19Q768219_OCTIM19Q696277 _HF1_win .zip
Extract the “hpedphsmx64.sys” file from the package.
(7zip is a utility that can be used to extract hpedphsmx64.sys).
Manually install the new HPEDpHsmX64.sys file as follows
The file is located in folder C:\Windows\System32\drivers where C:\Windows is the Windows install location.

• File Recovery operation from Backups taken using Block based backups.
