Knowledge Document: Problem to install Data Protector when hpdp user cannot login

0 Likes

Environment

DP 10
Linux

Situation

DP install failed when hpdp user shell is set to nologin in the /etc/password file

Cause

When the user is configured to use the nologin shell, it cannot log in to the system, so it cannot start the IDB processes, and the installation fails.

Resolution

The user shell needs to be set to a valid value (e.g. /bin/bash):

hpdp:x:1001:1001::/home/hpdp:/bin/bash
