Map CP metadata to Content Manager fields

ISSUE:

ControlPoint can work in conjunction with Content Manager. In that configuration, CP declares automatically records into CM. During this step, it is possible to transfer CP metadata to CM fields. This can be a mapping to any of CM fields, including custom ones.

HOW TO STEPS:

Here are the names of the CM fields you can potentially map to.

If you wish to map CPLOCATION to Notes in CM you can do so if you setup the following Insert Configuration in CP:

  • Source Name = CPLOCATION
  • TargetName = recNotes
  • Metadata type = property

If you are mapping to a custom property, the metadata type is "Field".

Don’t forget to activate Insert Configuration feature. You then need to restart CP Engine if you have made any change to insert configuration.

  • Export in ControlPoint does work in general, however there have been a few cases where specific data being exported caused problems for the export process. If you encountering issues you would be best to log a support case.

  • Hi All,

I created one Category and can see the results. But , I am not able to export by select all items into csv \ excel and it is showing as error in the output file once export completes. The question is that, can we export the category result into excel or cannot? Thanks

  • The mappings are primarily intended for copying properties from ControlPoint to corresponding fields in Content Manager.
The previous list published merely tells you the actual target names of available record properties in CM.
It does not confirm that all of those have been tested.

If you find you cannot map to a specific property on that list, you can always create a New Additional field in CM and map the field in CP to that instead.

    In CM

To add the additional field to CM:
Select Manage tab – click Additional Fields
Right click inside pane and select New Additional Field
Keep default string type and set name e.g. MyCMField1
Now in order to associate the additional field with Records added…..
Go to Manage > Record Types > Right Click Document > Additional Fields tab > Tick the additional field.

    In CP

    In Adminisration - insert configurations
set Target Name = the name of your New Additional Field e.g. MyCMField1
    set Metadata Type = Field

Restart CP engine after adding field for change to take effect.

  • Thanks for sharing this.

I am trying to map a CP property to the CM Classification/File Plan.

Is recClassification the property I need to use.

I have tried with recClassification and recFullClassification - no luck.

With recClassification, the property in CM remains empty.

With recFullClassification, I get the following error in the insert log of the CM connector (basically indicating the record property could not be set)

20/05/2020 12:05:10 [17] 70-Error: Insert Failed '': InsertId=1226: Couldn't insert file \\SRV01\ControlPointTempLocation\a22d7fcd-c601-42f2-b991-c123f09fd2be\6c61d1cdc6a4da22bd1378ddcf31dd5e\BlankFile.dmy: Failed to set record property recFullClassification to 1AN1 Naval Group Australia Classifications - Manufacture Class

Any ideas? Could someone maybe try to map a CP property to the Classification property of a record and verify it actually works?

    Thanks
