If you haven't already noticed, Filr 23.4 was released a week ago on October 23rd. We would like thank all our Filr beta enthusiasts who helped improve the quality of this release.
With the release of Filr 23.4, customers can establish a secure collaboration platform accessible from any device, anywhere, at any time. The upgraded platform, enhanced by granular multi-factor authentication, allows you to safeguard your Filr installation without sacrificing user-friendliness. Furthermore, the addition of Single Sign-On (SSO) through KeyShield, along with the ability to collaborate with an even wider range of internal and external users, enhances the end-user experience.
You have multiple reasons to upgrade: security and usability.
We've upgraded Filr's core to the new Spring and Spring Security framework version 5, enhancing network security. The platform, now designed for Java 8 and later, also includes support for updated versions of Hibernate, EhCache, and OAuth2 (used for multi-factor authentication) in Filr 23.4.
The enhanced Share dialog in Filr 23.4 enables collaboration with over 60 participants simultaneously. The UI/UX has been revised to assist users in managing a large number of users and groups within the Share dialog, including the option to remove invalid entries. Additionally, the type and role filters under Manage Shares assist in narrowing down to the shares of interest.
Protecting the Filr login with additional authentication factors strengthens your network security. However, many of you who deploy multi-factor authentication have requested more flexibility to enhance usability. The ability to set up dedicated nodes now allows you to selectively enforce multi-factor authentication. In a hybrid working model, you can choose to enforce additional factors for remote requests.
To enhance productivity and user experience, we have restored KeyShield integration in Filr 23.4 for faster single sign-on to the Filr web client.
With Filr, you can allow or reject files from applications running on Windows and Mac desktops. We now provide a pre-defined list of applications in the whitelist to assist you in safeguarding your storage access. You also have the flexibility to add or remove applications from the default list to align with your business requirements.
The fully revamped Filr client for macOS, built using the Apple File Provider plugin, offers deeper integration with macOS in addition to operating at default Mac security. We kindly request you to test the application and share your feedback with us.
Filr 23.4 also includes fixes for customer and internally reported defects in all areas to enhance stability. The Filr 23.4 release notes provide a detailed overview of all these features and more.
Filr 23.4 is an LTS release and available to all our Filr Standard and Advanced customers over the channel on Filr 5.x appliance. The update is available for all of Filr, PostgreSQL, and Content Editor appliances.
The client software is also available over the AppDelivery Marketplace.
