Messenger on Android 2.0

Are there any plans on providing Messenger or Messenger plug-ins (like pidgin in Linux) for the upcoming Android 2.0 line of phones? I've enjoyed using GWIM on my Blackberry, but I'm looking at moving to the Droid this weekend.

    Do you guys expose your GWMessenging system to the Internet? The reason
    Blackberrys can talk to the GWIM servers is because your BES is on the
    inside of your firewall. Since Android wont be relaying it's data
    connection off of your internal BES you would have to put a GroupWise
    messenger server in your DMZ or NAT the GWMessenger ports out to the
    internet which could potentially expose your eDirectory credentials to
    attack. Just a thought.

    We aren't going to open up messenger to the Internet but I would like to access it using WIFI internal to the company.

    I would like to see this happen as well. I like using my Droid phone much better than the BB.

    With the introduction of Trillian for Android, who would we need to bug to get a GWIM plug-in created? They already have GWIM for Windows...

    I asked about the GWIM plug-in for Trillian for Android at

    Novell Messenger plug-in request - Trillian Discussion Forums

    and I received this answer from the developer:

    "The mobile versions only run the core plugins that CS maintains on its server. Therefore its not possible to add other plugins to the mobile clients at this time."

    So, does this mean that there will not be a widget/app for the Novell Messenger on the Android OS? This post is over a year old and has had close to 3000 views; I'm sure that has to count for something...I'm just sayin.

    I'd like to see this too, as would many of our Android users on campus.

    Someone has already ported most of libpurple (the underlying framework that the Pidgin multi-protocol messenger is based on) to Android.

    Most of the legwork has been done, someone just needs to pick up the pieces and build a GUI for it!
