No password required with eDirectory

We recently upgraded from 2012 to 2014 and love it, but ran into an issue. I work with a woman who got married, and needed her last name changed. I was able to find the "rename" feature to change her username quickly and easily. However the Name, Last Name, etc was all grayed out in the GroupWise Admin console via a browser. Tried updating her account info in C1 since she is also an active users on our Netware server. The only way I could change her name on the email address book was to Disassociate. Now she is required to login to Netware, and then again to GroupWise, and that is annoying. I tried Associating with LDAP but that doesn't seem to have worked.

Any tips out there on how to get it back so that she can login to eDirectory via the Netware Server and not also have to login to GroupWise 14?

    Hi Mike,

When a user is associated to an LDAP object i.e. eDir, then all name changes etc need to be made in eDir, preferably using iManager. Those changes will sync automatically according to your sync schedule or alternatively you can manually initiate a sync just on that user object in the GroupWise Admin Console.

In order to correct your situation, as far as I am aware, you need to reassociate the GroupWise user object with the corresponding eDirectory object. I would recommend that you double-check the association that you have created between that object in GroupWise with the LDAP directory in question.

Please let us know how it goes.

Well thank you, now that I found iManager again I see where I can make those changes, not sure how to get my other user fixed however.

This is what I currently have for her

    LDAP User:cn=username,ou=ccrr,o=umchs

But that isn't working, got rid of the Error 34 Syntax issue and let me "associate" but not working.

    Hi Mike,

Just so we are both clear on what has happened, kindly describe how you created the new association between the GroupWise object and the eDir object. I just want to ensure that I'm not missing anything here.

Another thing that you can do is compare the LDAP GUID on the GroupWise user object with the GUID on the eDir User Object, specifically the last 12 digits - at least those are the digits that I look at!

    Cheers,
