I'm trying to open a really old GroupWise archive from around 2009. The GroupWise system has long be retired., but is there any way of getting through to the archive without the password?
The archive needs to be connected to a "live" account, if I recall, even if just a local cached/remote instance. I have never extracted such an archive on its own.
Creating such an instance is certainly doable, just have to get it to match the FID of the archive.
Forensic analysis tools may be able to extract it, but best by someone who does that for a living, or so they have claimed.
I have yet to see a method to crack the password.
How valuable is the data in there?

Is there a place where I can get Groupwise 8? I’m pretty sure I have a version of Netware it should run on. Or would the latest version of Groupwise be able to open a GW8 archive?

I assume you can work with other GW versions too if you can access any other ...
There you have to create a user with the same FID - or you have to rewrite the archive's FID: support.microfocus.com/.../doc.php
I did forget to mention that this gw5afe is a very old application. I am not sure which Windows is necessary for it.
