Restore from MSG DB

Is there a way to restore messages and re-build a user DB based on
what's in the user's MSG DB ?

Not from "the" or one message.db alone. But from an otherwise complete
groupwise post office, yes. "Recreate User Database" in gwcheck.

Note that all user specific settings, including folder structure will be
gone. All mails end up in the cabinet.

  • Hi Steve

Further to what Massimo has said, before I give any advice it would be nice to know more about the situation that you find yourself in that makes you ask such a question. Please do give us background information.

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

    Cheers,
  • Power outage / NTFS file damage / 2 damaged user DBs

the client was unaware that the dbcopy destination disk used for backup
had also run out of disk space so using that proved impossible

    I will
    1. do a complete backup
    2. Do the Database re-create
    3. Archive the missing e-mails and calendar items
    4. Restore the current DB
    5. Un-archive the missign items

I think that plan works ?
