send to uses helvetica

Hi everybody.

Wondered if someone seen this behavior:

although Arial is our Standardfont (Word, Excel, Groupwise...) and it is set in layouts in Groupwise:

everytime i send from office via send to email the groupwise mail ist generated with helvetica as font.

did i miss something. i searched registry for helvetica but found no connection to groupwise.

we use: gwclient 12.0.2

regards franz

Hmm. As nobody found that behaviour strange it has to be a feature.

can anybody pls give me some arguments for that so that i can easily convince my users of the feature ;-)

Well, some obvious things first: Windows doesn't ship with Helvetica as
Font (Arial *is* Windows' Helvetica, it just has a different name for
coypright reasons)), so where does Helvetica Font even come from on your
systems? It isn't unlikely that whatever has installed it also made it
    some default somewhere, somehow.

As Windows usually desn't even have Helvetica, it's not too surprising
    nobody has seen your issue.

  • Hi,

Further to what Massimo has said about the font, typically if you use the "send to" feature of Microsoft Word or Excel the font will default to New Times Roman, ignoring whatever you have set in GroupWise. This is a bug in the GroupWise client (Bug 796126).

    Cheers,
  • Thanks Massimo for your reply.

I just checked and saw my fault. send to always uses Times New Roman. (We used Helvetica as CI font so i just mistook it)

searched now for times new roman but again found no link to GroupWise.

ca you give me hints were to look in GroupWise and how to change this behaviour.

    sen to -> arial?

    regards franz
