Client SDD and AD

If moving from edir to AD (sniff) for file access, but keeping
Groupwise, what is the best way to set up the client SDDs. Currently
they reside on an OES box, so it's simple.

Is it just as simple as putting them on an AD file share, editing the
SDD in C1 to point to this location (even though the Groupwise server
will not be able to access this location)? Or will I need to do
something to allow the Groupwise server to see the client SDD for auto
updates to work properly?

Hi Stevo,

If the GroupWise POA is unable to access the SDD, auto-updates won't work.

So my response to laurabuckley's comment is...

That's what I was thinking, thanks.

So, if I want my POA to be able to access the SDD on an AD box, I can
set that up in C1, under post office settings, remote file server
settings?

I looked at that and the password options are to set a new password. I
don't want to do that, I just want to be able to input a password to
access the SDD.

Hi Stevo,

As far as I understand the --user and --password options in the POA startup file.... if the POA is on a Linux based system, including OES, this would mean a Linux based user name and password in order to access other Linux boxes.

If, however, you move your GroupWise system onto a Windows box, then this setting can reference a Windows user account and password. After all the research I've done, I can not find a way for a Linux based POA to log into a Windows server. If you find a way of doing this... then please do share with us :-)

So my response to laurabuckley's comment is...

We ended up mounting from linux to windows via NFS, editing the SDD in
C1.

Tried from a client and they got prompted to update to the sp2 version,
woohoo!!

Ok, so I need this to mount even after a reboot of my POA server, any
suggestions? Aside from running the mount command after the server
boots?

So my response to Stevo's comment is...

I think I found it (Yast, network services, nfs client).

I went through these steps and I see an entry in fstab now. We'll see
after a reboot.

After a reboot of the POA server, the mount point is still there. Will
have to see after a reboot of the server hosting the nfs share...
