You can also view this Micro Focus Secure Messaging Gateway - Webinar - YouTube which provides an overview of what SMG can do.

You use the GroupWise GWIA to access your mailbox via POP or IMAP. Normally you would use your router/firewall to forward incoming traffic to your public IP address on the POP/IMAP ports to your GWIA. Email sent from remote devices would be processed by SMG.
