Formativ Applet: iCal Solution

The Formativ iCal Solution makes it easy to share appointments with people using other collaboration software, such as Microsoft Outlook. It also makes it easy to add received appointment information into GroupWise without having to manually re-enter the iCal information.

The iCal Solution consists of two Formativ Applets:

  • Appointment to iCal
  • iCal to Appointment

Appointment to iCal creates an iCal file representing the selected GroupWise appointment. If a draft appointment is selected, the iCal file is added automatically as an attachment to the message. You can then send the appointment to a user of another collaboration system (such as Microsoft Outlook), and they would be able to import the iCal file as an appointment into their calendar. If the selected message is not draft (i.e. received), the iCal file is created and saved to disk.

iCal to Appointment looks for iCal file attachments in received messages and converts them to a new draft appointment in GroupWise. You are able to create a Posted (personal) or Standard (group) appointment based on the iCal file. Use iCal to Appointment when you receive a message from a user of another collaboration system (such as Microsoft Outlook), which contains appointment information in an iCal file attachment.
