We appreciate you honesty, but all I remember is that we’ve been screaming for change for years.
The result is customers are moving away (quickly) from GroupWise for two reasons:
1 – The clients; the clients look old and dull. Ajust to the Windows look is what users expect, so deal with it. Webaccess is still not on par with desktop client; promised for years and was one of the primary reasons to change it’s architecture. There is no good Mac client (yea I know the discussion, just wanted to mention it again, did I mention WebAccess yet?). I won’t mention Linux here.
2 – Mobility; the ongoing mobility issues drive customers -mad- and is the -primary- reason to move to another solution. I doesn’t help If even support and engineering admits these issues… this is about trust in the platform. I just can’t tell my customers you didn’t know. The thing is that the issue could technically be in ActiveSync or a mobile client, but users see GroupWise and blame that. So, get us something working: I would suggest to maybe take a look at the ZCM Mobile Workspace mail client. ‘Trusted and secure’ could convince users not to rely on the on-device stuff and instead use what we provide.
(sorry about the repost, seems the comment system is a bit dated)
