GroupWise 2014 R2 SP1 Beta Sites Sought

We are getting near to the next release of GroupWise; GroupWise 2014 R2 SP1 (14.2.1) and GroupWise Mobility Service 2014 R2 SP1 (14.2.1).  While these releases are mainly support packs - they do have new features in each release that come directly from the IDEAS forum, Customer visits by PM, and some frequently reported customer enhancements.

Here's what we've been working on:

  • SSO AD support for Linux POAs (Kerberos)

  • Improved usability of adding a Calendar in WebAccess

  • GMS SLES 12 support

In addition to the features above, there are a number of smaller bug-fix-like enhancements to functionality, performance or usability that were made in order to resolve customer reports. These are some of those types of changes:

  • We added hotkeys for reply, reply-to-all, and forward

  • Recurrence now automatically sets the day of the week for weekly recurrence based on the start date

  • Increased the performance of opening attachments in the client

  • Added server information and peak data to the information collected when sending the snapshot csv file

  • Groups can now be expanded from within the Address Selector

  • Can now accept items in subscribed calendars

  • Alarms can be set/cleared all instances of recurring appointments

  • Nicknames can used in send, forward and reply rule actions

  • Users can navigate directly to the last page of the published calendars list

I want to open up our beta program to the GroupWise community at large.  We are interested in your feedback prior to officially shipping SP1.

With this being a support pack and one we want to get out in short order, this will be a forums-only beta, and we are mostly interested in your feedback on the "new stuff." So, we'd hope that you'd respond quickly and focus on the new things.   This benefit to participating in this beta vs a typical public beta or tech preview is the forums are monitored by Engineering, QA & PM for feedback on the new features.   While we may not be able to reply to every post,  we are watching closely to improve the product prior to release.

If you have not participated in a beta before and are interested in participating, send an email to groupwisebeta@microfocus.com with the following information:

  • Your name

  • email

  • Company name

  • Version of GroupWise you are currently using in production

  • Do you plan to upgrade to the latest version?

  • A brief description of why you would like to participate in the beta.

You will also need a Novell login account to access the beta once added.   If you don't have one please create one here. https://secure-www.novell.com/selfreg/jsp/createAccount.jsp

Keep in mind this is beta software so do not run it in production,  there will be no support offered while in beta.  The beta forums are also not a place for getting support on your production system,  they are for feedback on the beta. We anticipate posting the GroupWise software in the next couple of weeks with the GMS software coming a few weeks after that.

So please,  if you have the time come help us by providing your feedback on the new features and getting and advance look at this next release!

UPDATE!

I originally published this blog before the email was setup.  My apologies.  That should be resolved now so please send in your email if you are interested in participating in the beta.
