Knowledge Document: GroupWise Messenger - Users unable to log in

Environment:
GroupWise Messenger 18

Situation:
Users are getting a message that the server is not responding.
All services are running Mars , ArangoDB and NMMA.

/var/log/messages shows the following:
d[1]: Starting GroupWise Messenger Messaging Agent (NMMA)...
2022-08-22T15:40:03.454169-05:00 mail systemd[1]: gwm-nmma.service: PID file /var/opt/novell/messenger/temp/nmma.pid not readable (yet?) after start: No such file or directory
2022-08-22T15:40:11.211760-05:00 mail systemd[1]: Started GroupWise Messenger Messaging Agent (NMMA).
2022-08-22T15:40:11.219089-05:00 mail systemd[1]: Starting GroupWise Messenger Archive Agent (NMAA)...
2022-08-22T15:40:11.231680-05:00 mail systemd[1]: gwm-nmaa.service: PID file /var/opt/novell/messenger/temp/nmaa.pid not readable (yet?) after start: No such file or directory

Resolution:
Download the Messenger installer from your customer SLD and re-run the installer. Follow through the configuration to make sure everything is correct. Restart Messenger services once complete.

If that fails to resolve the issue, restart the GroupWise server and then restart Messenger to have a clean connection.
