Knowledge Document: GroupWise mail, Inbound and Outbound, is not flowing

Environment

GroupWise 24.x
GroupWise 23.x
GroupWise 18.x

 

Situation

Inbound and Outbound mail is not flowing through Secure Messaging Gateway (SMG).

The verbose GWIA log shows the following errors:

11:37:39 057E DMN: MSG 8479349 Inbound AUTH failure (D019)
11:37:39 057E DMN: MSG 8479349 TCP/IP read error
11:37:39 057E DMN: MSG 8479349 SMTP session ended: [192.10.10.10] ()
11:37:39 057E DMN: MSG 8479350 Accepted connection: [192.10.10.10] ()

 

Resolution

Both the GroupWise GWIA and SMG need to be configured to use (or not use) SSL in order for SMTP mail to flow correctly.

In the GroupWise Admin Console | Internet Agents | <GWIA> | Agent Settings | SMTP | Ensure the SSL configuration is set to (or not to) use SSL:



If SMTP is configured to use SSL, then in the SSL Settings tab, ensure that the SSL Certificate File and SSL Key File fields are populated correctly.



If SSL is enabled for SMTP communications, then SMG also needs to be configured to use SSL. Follow this document for SMG configuration: How to Add a SSL Certificate to the Secure Messaging Gateway Server
