Situation

After the GroupWise Server installation completes, Domain and Post Office database versions are still the same as before the install.
 

Resolution

Upgrading the Domain and Post Office Servers does not upgrade the databases.  This must be done in a separate step after the install, as stated in the GroupWise Documentation section:  Domain and Post Office Upgrades

After following the steps listed in the GroupWise Documentation Preparing Your Existing GroupWise System for Upgrade, here are the steps to upgrade the databases:

1.  Select the GroupWise Install icon on the desktop of the server to open the GroupWise Web Install Console in a browser.


 
- Alternatively, the GroupWise Web Install Console can be access from a browser on a workstation at:
https://<gwserver_hostname>:9710/gwadmin-console/install/login.jsp
- If prompted to authorize the install, copy the full string provided in the box:
gwadmin-ipc authorize <token>
Paste or enter that line into a terminal session on the GroupWise Server and hit enter.  The Install in the browser should update automatically after the token is accepted.

2.  Select 'Upgrade an Existing Domain or Post Office'



3. - The available Domains and Post Offices should be listed
- If they are not, select 'Add' and browse to the directory location
- Note the version number listed in the far right column
- Click 'Next' on the bottom right of the page



4.  Enter the GroupWise Admin Name and Password and select "Next'



5.  Confirm the GroupWise System and Agents information listed on the summary page are correct and select 'Finish' on the bottom right of the page



7.  Restart all POA's and MTA's by either following the link provided on the page to the GroupWise Web Admin Console and manually stopping then starting each agent, stopping and starting each agent in Services (Windows), or by using the 'rcgrpwise restart' command in a terminal session on the server (Linux)

8.  Confirm the Domain and Post Office database versions have been updated by checking the version listed in the Overview page of the GroupWise Web Admin Console.
