Knowledge Document: Is GMS able to add global signatures to sent emails?

Environment

GroupWise 18.x
GroupWise 23.4
GroupWise 24.x
GMS 18.5
GMS 23.4
GMS 24.x

Situation

You would like to control global signatures to be added to the emails that originate from a GMS.

Resolution

A mail client on a device does not make any direct connection to a GroupWise end-user mailbox, therefore it cannot read any personal GroupWise signatures.
Furthermore, it is also not aware of any Global Signatures set in the GroupWise system and assigned to users via Client Settings.
However, you can use a GWIA overwrite configuration settings to add a global signature to all outbound, Internet emails. In a gwadmin console view details of GWIA -> SMTP/MIME -> Message Formatting where you can enable a global signature and choose from a drop-down menu if you have more of them. Then this setting will apply to all outbound mail, i.e. also for those created by a mobile device and sent through a GW system.
