Securing iPrint from the Outside

I am currently working with MS-ISAC to test my school network from the outside and my iPrint Appliance (4.2.8) sets off red flags during their security scans. We have installed a wildcard SSL certificate to address one of their security concerns. The biggest issue I am trying to address is how each printer provides the network path. Is there a process to follow and secure my iPrint Appliance server while still allowing staff to print from home? I am hoping that my only solution is not to allow the appliance to be accessed externally.

Not sure what you want to accomplish or what the problem is but if you want to secure the printers, you can enable them as SSL printers.
the url is created using the PSMHostAddress value from /etc/opt/novell/iprint/conf/ipsmd.conf. ipp://PSMHostAddress/ipp/printer name.

First of all, thank you for responding and providing the KB article. Second, I am trying to find a way to hide the entire path for each printer since it could lead to a security hole according to CIS. They use a tool like NMAP to scan and find the issues.

i still do not get it:

1. Where do you want to hide the path? Do you mean the ipp:// address? do you mean in the ipp request?

2 . what nmap says and why it could be a security hole?.

you may need to provide more detailed info.
