On wich OS is iprint 4.2 based?
the file /etc/os-release say sles12 sp3, but vmware vsphere will not recognize correctly the os and say to correct this (sles 12 64 bit)

Yes, I known! But my question is why VMware vsphere 7.03g don’t recognize this and say that is an other os! For all other mf sles- or oes-machines the recognized os is correct, only not on iPrint appliance!
Is this iPrint packaged as an OVA/OVF? If so, then it should tell vSphere correctly and this sounds like a bug in that OVA/OVF packaging
if delivered else wise, how is it packaged?

The iPrint Appliance is packaged as an OVF. I have seen the same issue in my lab and set the Guest OS and OS Version to Linux, Other Linux (64-bit) just to get rid of the warning. I'll discuss this with the iPrint engineering team and update this thread.
