Take a look at Gartner’s 2016 CIO Agenda Report, and you’ll notice that “technology challenges” were named as a top barrier to success for CIOs this year. Many enterprises are still struggling with inefficient, confusing and unreliable systems that are slowing down operations and negatively impacting productivity.

Unfortunately, enterprise-printing systems are perpetuating this negative sentiment. Printers are just as vital for daily communications as phones, fax machines and email platforms. Yet they are often highly complex, and difficult for end users to locate on their networks.

Micro Focus iPrint was created to streamline such inefficiencies, thus allowing businesses to maximize their printing investment. In a nutshell, iPrint is a virtual appliance that provides cross-platform access and self-service printing for end users across the enterprise. End users can use iPrint to easily access onsite printers from their mobile devices, laptops and desktops.

Looking forward, the iPrint Virtual Appliance is about to get even better. Later this summer, Micro Focus will release iPrint version 2.1.

Here’s a preview of what you can expect:

AirPrint Server Certification: Version 2.1 will contain support for all Apple AirPrint certified printers

Support for MAC filters: This will make it easier for administrators to automatically configure client machines

And that’s not all. Along with version 2.1, Micro Focus will also be releasing the following later this summer:

iPrint iOS App 3.0: Version 3.0 will contain iOS extension support, WalkUp job management for desktop and mobile users, and a complete history of non-WalkUp jobs. It will also facilitate easy image/photo printing, and printing directly from Web pages.

Chromebook Extension 1.0: End users will be able to install and uninstall printers from their Chromebooks using the Internet Printing Protocol (IPP) page, and see status reports for print jobs, as well as all connected iPrint servers. Plus, it will enable printing to both secure and non-secure printers. Chromebook Extension 1.0 will also come with a native user interface.
