Is there any way to remove the nagios instance from an OES server? I have a standalone nagios server and would rather not have it on my OES servers. If not how can I change the password for the user nagios?

log in to the OES Remote Manager as root with PW and then click on the "Config" wheel. Create the user nagioasadmin with password, restart Nagios in NRM. Nagios can then either be administered from the NRM or the corresponding files can be edited in the CLI.

Upgrade to the current version may well do the job. I'm not seeing any nagios bits on or from those servers (at this point all new boxes, upgrades in the queue after some experimentation, with this to now be noted)
alternatively, if staying on the old and no longer supported versions of OES (or they get dragged along on upgrades), you could just disable the part(s) needed. novell-gmetad.service and novell-gmod.service

Ended up just disabling the nagios service and then I could rename the nagios user and go on with life ;)
I think you're confusing ganglia and nagios here. The former is gone in 2023 and up, nagios however is still there.
No, I'm aware... Thanks
Not you. Andy. :)
;D
gaa, I see that now. it's been a little while since I dove into that level. Clearly time to so that again for those useful tools.
