Switching from BIOS to UEFI boot on VMware

I have OES 2018 SP3 servers on VMware ( planning to upgrade to 24.2 ) , is there a way to switch from BIOS boot to UEFI ? I'm lazy to create new server and migrate all services and data there.

Anyone tried that ? Is there real benefit, when I switch to UEFI on VMware ?

I've stayed the lazy path and left them at BIOS.  Even the customer who was fast to upgrade the OS the vm thinks it is running and VM version has left them at BIOS

I can't think of any benefit UEFI has over bios in a properly secured server scenario. Especially not in a Virtual server. Unless of course, your OS requires it.

I've tried previously but failed due to changes in how the disk is addressed. It results in server being non bootable. You also have to consider the partitions that get laid down when you install using BIOS vs UEFI. They're not the same. I've also found that some disk manipulation tools don't work with an EUFI system and that is a deterrent if you ever find yourself needing to do a disk expansion.   Overall I don't think making the change on an existing server is a practical option.
