Citrix XenApp

Prerequisites:

    • Windows 2008R2

 

    • OES2 SP3

 

    • XenApp 6.0

 

    • OES2 SP3 with DSFW



This scenario will cover installing XenApp as a DSfW Administrator and verifying the Novell Admin is added to the Citrix Administrators node after installation.

 



FARM CREATION


 

    • On the first server, join Windows workstation to DSFW domain.

      1. Start the XenApp install. Add roles and proceed with the XenApp edition you want to deploy and follow the install wizard. Install sequence example given below:

        3.2 Create XenApp Services web site: select create a website and follow the screens similar to XenApp Web Site creation wizard settings.

Note: After installation is completed, verify the Novell Admin is the only Citrix Administrator added to the farm

PUBLISHING APPLICATIONS with DSFW users




      1. Start a new Publish Application wizard




 




      1. Select application type “accessed from server” to select an installed application




 




      1. On the configure users screen, click on Add




 




      1. Select the DSFW domain




 




      1. Authenticate with domain administrator credentials




 




      1. Select and open Users container. Click on the Show Users checkbox




 




      1. Domain admin group as well as the domain user group can also be added

 

      1. Finish publishing the application with the selected user




 

 

Additional DSFW configuration with XenApp


This scenario will verify DSfW users can be added as Citrix Administrators and can manage the permitted farm objects.


      1. Open Citrix Delivery services console and go to the Citrix Administrators node




 




      1. Click Add new administrator




 




      1. OpenDSFW domain, in this case FRD.com




 




      1. Authenticate to FRD.com




 




      1. Select the desired user/s




 




      1. Set the permissions to View Only, save the admin object




 

 

Full administration


For full administration privileges refer the above configuration until the privilege page where permissions to Full administration can be selected.


iPrint with XenApp

iPrint technology allows users to install printer drivers from a web browser and to submit printjobs over the internet or a local network through the standard Internet Printing Protocol (IPP).

This section will cover setup and usage of iPrint component on XenApp.

Configuring client network printer


      1. On a Windows workstation install the iPrint client




 




      1. On a client workstation install the iprint printer from the ipp page agent prior to establishing the ICA session.

 

      1. Open up the policies page




 




      1. Configure a new policy




 




      1. Select “printing” from categories and “Client printer redirection” from settings




 




      1. Allowing client printer redirection will enable client side printers to be mapped




 




      1. Disabling client printer redirection will allow server side printers to be visible within the ICA session




 




      1. Finish and apply the policy.




 


Novell client Installation (link)


      1. In XenApp server install Novell client and reboot the workstation.

      1. Open up Citrix Delivery services console and publish a new application.




 




      1. Select server desktop from the type of application




 




      1. Select the server where Novell client is installed.




 




      1. Select the DSFW domain, authenticate and choose a dsfw user




 




      1. Finish publishing the application.

 

      1. Establish a ICA session from client workstations.

 

      1. After the desktop session opens, Novell client can be logged into as an DSFW/eDir user




 


Novell client Passthrough authentication and Enabling an eDirectory AutoAdminLogon

FileSystem configuration:
CIFS/FTP/DFS/DST


    1. Create file access protocol shares on OES server and provide access for eDir users.

    1. In XenApp server publish a new application in content sharing mode, use the ip address/share path for configuration

 

    1. From client establish ICA session and access share volume after eDir authentication.
