  • Hi,

I've updated 2 VM's so far but both have problems to update the iManager plugins after the install of Update4 and rebooting. iManager always seems to hang during the uninstall phase of updating a plugin. For example, iManager spawns an uninstall process like:

      java -Djava.awt.headless=true -jar /var/opt/novell/iManager/nps/UninstallerData/Uninstall_SNMPConfiguration/uninstaller.jar -i silent

But the process just stays there and never makes progress. If I kill this process iManager continues with the install phase of the plugin and successfully installs the plugin. Then iManager hangs again with the next update process.

Otherwise Update4 works fine here on these VM's.

    regards,

    Franz

Thank you for sharing your experience.

Could it be related to the issue discussed in "After Recent Updates, Unable to Install or Update iManager Plugins (npm)" KB article? Please note that we have a defect open for this issue. However, we have reverted the Java version in Update 3/4 to allow for seamless plugin upgrade.

Yes, you are right. I even remember seeing this KB sometime ago, but it seems I lost track of it and didn't repair the machines with the broken java installation.

So after downgrading java all is fine here again. Thanks for the tip!

Spoke too soon. Last nights channel update SUSE-SLE-SERVER-12-SP5-2022-2540 brought back the hang.

As before can be fixed with "zypper in -f java-1_8_0-ibm-1.8.0_sr6.25-30.81.1".
