The Open Enterprise Server 2018 Support Pack 2 (OES 2018 SP2) public beta is now live. You can download the build from here.
The key highlights of this release include:
Platform and Eco-system currency
The OES 2018 SP2 ships with SLES 12 SP5 and eDirectory version 9.2.1
File stack Security enhancements
Enhanced security through support for AES 256-bit encryption in NSS; Encrypted NCP traffic; Enforcing Multi-Factor authentication (MFA); OES logging(VIGIL) in Common Event Format(CEF);
File stack Performance enhancements
The CIFS stack on OES 2018 SP2 gets improved caching and support for SMB leases resulting in overall throughput improvement
File stack Usability enhancements
Improved storage usage reporting through support for thin provisioning in NSS
File stack AD Integration enhancements
The enhancements to NFARM on Windows allow you to manage both eDirectory and Active Directory rights; NFARM for Mac allows you to manage Active Directory rights
The improvement to the NURM tool allows you to schedule user mapping task
Cloud Integrated Storage (CIS) enhancements
Enhanced desktop experience through the introduction of Mac and Windows clients
Introduction of "Free Space Calculator" and "Storage Space Estimator" to give you an idea of storage requirement without actually moving the files across
The OES agents now also support checkpointed incremental volume scan
Domain Services for Windows (DSfW) enhancements
Schema and functional level support for AD 2016
iPrint enhancements
iPrint for OES is now called iPrint Advanced and is available as a pattern in the OES media for easy deployment and patching
Alongside OES 2018 SP2, the Client for Open Enterprise Server 2 SP5 beta is now available for download here.
