Retain Index Backup Snapshots

I have noticed that the Retain 4.9 server has old snapshot files under /data/retain/backup/index.  These files are old files.  One is from 3 months ago and another is from 2.5 years ago.  Are these files necessary to keep or can these be deleted after so much time?

Thanks!

You can delete it. Looks like Retain is not able delete such old index backups. Normally, there should be present only the last one.

would this apply to others in that backup directory?   while the system I'm looking at has a bunch of stuff,  some that I can tell was done as part of migrations (on 3rd host of the long lived Retain system) that I'm sure I can kill.  others I am unsure

    ex

ASConfig.setup from 2008-10-08   (that I expect can go)

backup/index/  various files 3 to 8 years old  about 38GB vs the 56GB in the one snapshot

So what should be in that backup folder?

    Should look like this

    backup/index/snapshot.20210626150933624

If you have like me Enable Backup of Indexes / Daily, then it will create this "snapshot." folder every day and the old one will be be deleted after index backup is done.

If you have something older, delete it.

    hmm,

Retain management shows backup enabled and points to the folder in question and
says Last Index Backup     22-Aug-2021 01:03:20

backup/index/snapshot.20210606.....    with matching date stamp of folder and contents.

I'll bring this up with the case I currently have open, either is something quick or will trigger
