Volker,

The Cross-Empire Data Migration feature of Novell Storage Manager is
only present in the AD version. NSM AD does not communicate with NSM
eDir as part of the migration process, though having a well-managed
eDirectory environment will certainly make your migration easier.
Likewise, you won't need to upgrade the eDirectory NSM install to 4.0
before migrating.

The easiest thing to do would be to create a clean install of NSM 4.0.2
on Windows, set up the Cross-Empire Data Migration feature, and migrate
to that clean install.
