Mapping a drive letter for a group in AD

We have assigned managed paths to groups, but we would like to map a drive letter for these paths. Since a group policy doesn't offer this option (which makes sense, since an AD group doesn't have a profile like a user), how do you get the drive letter mapped? I found a place in the group XML file to specify the mapped drive letter, which is great! (if it means anything), but how do you get the mapping to happen? Is this where you use the auxmap utility? I've only scanned the information about it.
