VM Explorer 7.1 and VmWare 7.0.1

Hello there.

I've just installed a new VmWare ESXi v7.0U1 (free edition) with 5 Windows Server 2019 virtual servers, then I've installed VM Explorer v7.1 in my dedicated backup machine.

I've a QNAP NAS connected via iSCSI to my VmWare host, so I can use NAS storage as VmWare Datastore (so I avoid mapping the NAS disk as a Windows drive).

When I configure my backup job and set the backup destination as NAS Datastore, I cannot choose any of the first 4 options:
  - The target directory must not exist, it will be created
  - If the target directory exists, then it must be empty
  - If the target directory exists, archive existing files in the target directory.
  - If the target directory exists, overwrite existing files in the target directory.
due to incompatibility with ESX/ESXi 7.0.0!

At the same time, I can't choose Incremental backup 'cause the destination is not Local Computer.

Can anyone help me, pls?

    I also have the same problem as you. I opened a support ticket and see what they tell me. Have you already had information on the resolution?

    Sì, ho aperto un ticket con il supporto e mi hanno detto che a causa di una limitazione di VmWare 7.0 non è più possibile gestire il backup come prima.
    L'unico modo è utilizzare il VD Service (VmWare VDDK) che però non è disponibile nella versione free.

    Yes, I opened a ticket with the Support e they told me that due to a limitation of VmWare 7.0 it's no longer possible to manage backups as before.
    The only way is to use VD Service, which is not available in the free version of VmWare.
