Expiration date on purchase detail

Hi

We are using Zenworks Asset Management 10.3.1.60834. We have a number of purchases of the same catalog product. The purchase details contains an expiration date to say that the particular purchase should no longer contribute to licenses, unfortunatley it doesn't appear to work. Over the years we have bought 1600 units of a particular product but 1300 of those units have expired yet Zenworks still gives 1600 licenses. Am I misinterpretting this field? or is there a problem?
