This chilling story from CNN is a reminder of why we need ZENworks to help keep private information secure. On 28 March 2008 a story was posted on CNN.com that revealed that malware was secretly installed on the servers of Hannaford Brothers supermarket chain. This got onto most of the store's 271 servers, and compromised up to 4.2 million debit and credit cards.

The company revealed that this data breach, which occurred between Dec. 7 and March 10, "allowed credit and debit card numbers to be stolen as shoppers swiped their cards at checkout line machines and the information was transmitted to banks for approval."

Two ZENworks products may have prevented this breach from ever happening.

ZENworks Asset Management would have alerted the admins that some new software had been installed, and they could have deleted it immediately.
