Blank screen on managed device during Remote Management session

The following procedure explains a way to force a blank screen on the managed device during a Remote Management (RM) session.

  1. Press the blank screen button on the RM viewer to enforce mouse and keyboard lock on the managed device.

  • Open Screen Resolution by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, and then, under Appearance and Personalization, clicking Adjust screen resolution.
    You can also open Screen Resolution by right clicking on the desktop and selecting Screen Resolution from the menu.

  • To create a new virtual monitor, click on Detect button. A new virtual monitor icon with "Another display not detected" on it will appear.

  • Click on the new virtual monitor icon. Click the drop-down list next to Multiple displays, click "Try to connect anyway on VGA", and then click Apply.

  • The new virtual monitor will now appear with a display number on it. Click that monitor. Click the drop-down list next to Multiple displays, click "Show desktop only on X" (X is the display number of the new virtual monitor) and then click Apply.

  • The managed device screen will now be blank.


 

Steps to remove the additional virtual monitor before exiting the remote session



  1. Open Screen Resolution settings and click on the new virtual monitor icon. Click the drop-down list next to Multiple displays, click "Show desktop only on X" (X is the original display monitor) and then click Apply.

  • To remove the new virtual monitor. Click the drop-down list next to Multiple displays, click "Remove this display" and then click Apply.
