ZENworks 2020 Update 3 - .NET 4.8 issue & New Update 3 build

Many ZENworks customers have reported system update failure while updating their Primary server and devices to ZENworks 2020 Update 3, which was released in early November -2022. Upon investigation, we found that this is happening due to Microsoft’s .NET 4.8 installer (bundled along with ZENworks 2020 Update 3) not returning consistent error codes. This failure has been reported on both Windows based Primary servers and Windows managed devices.

We are working to address this issue and here are the options available for our customers - 

Customers who have already deployed ZENworks 2020 Update 3 in their environments -  

  • We have fixed .NET 4.8 issue in an FTF which is available for download here. Customers who have already deployed the System update are urged to apply this FTF

Customers who are still to deploy ZENworks 2020 Update 3 in their environments - 

  • We have released a new ZENworks 2020 Update 3 build - "ZENworks 2020 Update 3a" with the required fix. The details of the build are available here. This new build can be used by all customers who haven’t yet deployed ZENworks 2020 Update 3.

  • FYI....ZENworks 20.3a has been released and is now on SLD.   The ZCM 20.3 docs should detail the minor fixes created which primarily involve System Update issues.  There was one minor ZAPP Fix where in certain cases the ZAPP Window would not always re-open if closed due to a bug in the version of Chromium used and ZAPP was rebuilt with a slightly newer Chromium build to address that specific issue.

    No matching system update content could be found for file 'file:///var/tmp/ZCM_2 0.3.0_FTF_Agent_Defect_479023.zip/Readme_Agent.txt', will be ignored.
    The requested patch of update 5020030000fc50000000002022102917 has been initiate d. A System Message will be logged for the current server when it completes.
