One nuance to the situation - there is a zone CA update in progress. The new CA activated on June 2nd and both primaries show "Update Complete" but this customer site has over 500 devices that haven't checked in and picked up that update, some undoubtedly because they failed to pickup the previous CA update. Whether these devices still exist is an open question.

Make sure you specify Port 7443 not 443 when adding the server.

The current docs may not be clear....

That worked! The UI presents 443 as does the help screen.

Are you using the "New Appliance"?  

"New Appliance" not sure what you mean. This is a 2020.2 appliance OVA, following the installation instructions from www.novell.com/.../zen_version_currency_2020_23.4.html

Interesting - after getting the appliances up and running at 2020U2 I moved ahead with the system update to 23.4. The SUStatus page would not load when performing that step, but otherwise the upgrade went fine. No reported errors or other manifested hiccups.

But then during the evening I went in to patch up to FTF 95 and could not connect to a terminal session using several tools (MobaXterm, FileZilla). I got some help this morning and my Linux wizard discovered that the SSH keys had not been created. He made that happen manually and now we can connect via the tools mentioned above. However, when I look at the diagnostics page in the ZCC, the appliances show as disconnected.

Managed agents list all servers, so they're happy.

You need to enable SSH using the Appliance Admin Page on Port 9443.

Note: There are new ZCM 23.4 Appliances you can install.  No need to use the 20.2 Appliance and upgrade.

I swear I went looking for a newer appliance OVA and didn't see that in my SLD - but now I do. I'm going to rip these two appliances out and start over - think that's the better solution. (And I did have the SSH service enabled - bit myself forgetting to do that too many times.

Standing up the first of my two new 23.4 appliances. That new configuration dialog is very nice - great improvement! And in the new setup, port 7443 is correctly specified.

But the ZENworks configuration on the first server failed. Please see attached.
