Aegis ‘Depot’ Activity – Base64 Encode and Decode

Dealing with Base64 encoded data is a common requirement in Aegis workflows.   Normally if there is a need to encode or decode to/from Base64 data in an Aegis workflow the most popular method is to use a simple powershell script to perform the action, and then parse the result with a data manipulation activity.  This tool simplifies the operation allowing you to encode or decode data in your choice of encoding in one simple step.

There are literally loads of use cases where Process Automation hits some form of base64 requirement - URLS, Webservice Messages, XML data, Emails .... just don't confuse it with encryption!

Warning!  If you try and encode data with ASCII which isn't ASCII, then you will end up with garbage!  If you try and decode UNICODE data with ASCII encoder, you will generate an error which will need to be handled.
