how to make whole record read only based on the status column

Dears,

We have status column, if it is having value as 'Awaiting approval' it should be only in read mode and no changes has to be done for that record. if the status changed to Approved or Rejected then it has to turn to editable.

How to enable this for complete record instead of each column.
