Goodbye Summer, Hello Network Operations Management 2020.08!

It has been a summer like no other, but we’ve got good news – we’ve released the latest versions of Network Operations Management, Network Node Manager, and Network Automation. And, like a cool autumn breeze after a long summer, we’re refreshed and eager to tackle new challenges with our updated toolset.  Network Operations Management 2020.08 offers the results of our ongoing efforts to update the core architecture and bring new, high performance capabilities to drive down the cost and increase the effectiveness of your network services.

NOM 2020.08 introduces production-ready reporting capabilities and content based on the Collect Once Store Once (COSO) data lake powered by Vertica.  NOM COSO reports can be created using either Business Value Dashboards (BVD) or customer provided business intelligence tools.  Additionally, COSO data can be used to visualize network performance data and issues in the NNMi user interface via analysis panes and built-in dashboards.  This release of COSO provides equivalency with Operations Bridge Reporter for NOM and therefore NOM and NA no longer ship OBR for reporting.    Additionally, COSO will allow deployments of Operations Bridge (2020.09) and NOM (2020.08) to share infrastructure (up to 5K devices) to better enable cross-domain reporting (system, app, and network) from a single database that is normalized and time-sequenced.  Additional scale is a focus-item for future releases.

 NOM COSO reporting initially supports data from the NNM iSPI Performance for Metrics, NNM iSPI Performance for Quality Assurance, and NA at a scale of 5000 nodes for NNMi and NA.  NA data initially includes metadata about users and managed nodes.  In addition to out of the box reports such as Performance Overview and Top-N reports, customers can define their own reports or use their own reporting business intelligence tools such as PowerBI or Graphana.

This release also includes an updated Performance Troubleshooting capability.  This capability delivers a customizable dashboarding UI to explore historical performance data currently stored in the NNMi Network Performance Server (NPS), launched from the context of a monitored object​ or incident from NNMi.  This functionality replaces the older Adobe Flash-based capability which was removed in an earlier release as part of the EOL of Adobe Flash.  A future release of the Performance Troubleshooter will use COSO instead of NPS.
