Briefly describe your idea
Provide more detailed logging and reporting of user activity.  This would include username, number of times logged in, length of time, and areas accessed.

Why is this important, when it would it be used
To understand which users are actually spending any time in the application (self-service or admin).  This helps to properly allocate licenses.

If you were designing the solution, how would  you do it?
By time period

  • This is strongly needed. Even from Browser, API, DB or Prometheus. We need these information from somewhere to at least set named licenses properly. This data can be used many ways.

  • We need to know how many users are connected

  •   has some valid points.

The implementation of this feature is critical for MSPs and other use cases around knowing end user behaviour (SSP) and support agents accessing specific modules and functions. It does not need to capture time spent but that it was accessed. In some cases we want to know who is exporting any data via Dashboards/Reports or individual modules often to understand their use of such data and if there is a security risk.

The way Micro Focus deploys this is key; my suggestion is to have it under each user History Tab and provide the facility to be deleted by an Admin role (who is in turn audited when user access data is deleted)

  • A great idea - see your current active users.

  • Thanks for the comments . That will be an important consideration for the design (may need to provide options ) and best practice guidance for using.
