A product view on Asset Models to request a Service is missing in Service Portal.

Possible approach:

Asset Models need a new free configurable categorization hierarchy , e.g. Laptops, Desktops, Printer &
Scanner, Software. For each category searchable attributes can be defined similar to user options ). Typical
attributes for category Laptop are vendor , processor , display size , display resolution , display type, RAM, HDD type, HDD size , interfaces , weight . Each attribut can have a flag „Show directly “ and Sort Order“. It must be possible to define the control which is used for filtering for each attribut , e.g. Checkbox, Radio Button, 2 sided sliders . In addition Asset Models need the same pricing information currently Offerings have Service Portal needs a new view on Asset Models with its own categorization , e.g. Laptops, Desktop, Printer & Scanner. On top of each category a filter area for the category specific search attributes is available . By default only those attributes are shown , which have the flag „Show directly “ in the given Sort Order“. A link „Show more “ displays all defined attributes.

A german online shop for hardware ( is a good example for this idea.

Below the filter area all products which meet the filter are listed with a picture , a brief description new rich
text attribut of Asset Model, complete description , not shortened ), pricing information and a button to order the product . To keep the aspect of Service Management, submitting the order of a product uses the linked Offering of the Asset Model, e.g. „Order a new laptop “ with the selected product as parameter . In case an Asset Model has links to more than 1 Offering the user has to select the Offering after the selection of the product.

Starting the order process from the Service Offering , all Asset Models linked to the Offering are shown as
possible products in a new optional field in the Service Request.
