if NNMi is used with an Oracle DB-is it possible and supported to use a new service instead of an instance to install QA?

This is a special question, because the documentation tells that  QA needs his own DB-Instance on the Oracle DB to be installed.

https://docs.microfocus.com/doc/Network_Node_Manager_i/23.4/NNMi_as_a_standalone_cluster tells;

You must create a new Oracle database instance before installing the NNM iSPI Performance for QA.

or While installing and configuring the NNM iSPI Performance for QA, do not use the same Oracle instance that was configured with NNMi.

The customer is usually not creating instances but services on the Oracle DB, in addition if a new DB Instance has to be created this is quite expensive, because every

instance will cost approximately 5000 Euro a year. Having said that every additional SPI like mpls, ipsla would cost 5000 Euro/pa extra.

So the customer would like to create new service on the same instance, with a new user

Is this supported?

    Hello,

    A separate Oracle DB instance for iSPI QA is not required. It is enough to create a separate user. Ideally, table spaces assigned to iSPI QA user (main and temp) should be different but that is also not absolutely necessary. If the same pair of table spaces is used for NNMi and iSPI QA make sure the size of table spaces is large enough. Technically this will not cause any problems to products assuming Oracle performance is good. The requirement for a separate DB instance was documented long time ago. In our days some clients use kind of software which loads balancing Oracle instances for several aps. I have seen several clients who use such software where only one Oracle DB instance is used for NNMi and iSPI QA and that works just fine. The same was observed in our internal deployments.

    Best regards,
