Red Hat 7 Kernel Update Breaks NNMi 10.40

Greetings everyone,

Been having an issue with Kernel Updates for Red Hat 7. Been running nnmi10.40 on RH7 for months with no issues the working kernel was 3.10.0-693.5.2.e17.x86_64 this morning we updated the server which included new kernel 3.10.0-693.17.1.e17.x86_64 and now the processes will not start.

if we do a clean install on this new kernel everything works file but for some reason we have been unable to yum update the kernel on an existing system.

Vincent,
We actually isolated this to Red Hat 7 JAVA patches not the kernel. We upgraded the Kernel independently and everything ran fine. Once the JAVA updates were applied from the YUM repository that is when the processes would not start. I am going to provide the exact JAVA patches that were applied that we believe break the application.

Found this post From Dave Young related to OVJBOSS and we gave it a try, when we modified the nms-local.properties file and added the new jdk that was updated yesterday it then worked.

(NNMi) Support Tip: Upgrading NNMi to 10.30 or 10.40 may leave Ovjboss unstartable.
