That's a good question. This is the answer:
Alarming: This option is used when the primary goal is to generate alerts based on certain conditions or thresholds. When a metric is set to "Alarming," it means that the system monitors the metric in real-time and triggers an alert if the monitored value meets specific criteria. However, the data is not logged into CODA. The focus is on immediate alerting rather than long-term data collection.
Logging: This option is used when the metric data needs to be stored in CODA for further processing, such as creating performance dashboards and for reporting purposes. When a metric is set to "Logging," it means that the system collects and logs the metric data regularly. The data is available for historical analysis and other performance management activities.
