I am planning to go for 'Open Data Ingestion', but I have one doubt.

I went through the example topic 'Send a POST request to the Administration Interface to create the dataset', I see you have to create dataset with hostname.

Does this hostname should be in OPTIC DL to accept metric data or is it not necessary.

Also do we need to do below or is it optional

I think the answer is that it depends on the method you choose to use.  If you choose https://docs.microfocus.com/doc/Containerized_Operations_Bridge/24.3/DataingestAPI then you need to include in the JSON hostnames in these sections:
