Reinstall of an OBR 10.22 remote Vertica database thinks the DB already exist

Status : Archived
over 2 years ago

OBR CreateVerticaDatabase.sh script needs to be updated.

The script was failing because it thought that the Vertica database already existed because of the line below.

dbstatus=`su $1 -c "/opt/vertica/bin/adminTools -t view_cluster"
grep -i UP
wc -l`

If you manually run the line without the "wc" command, you will see that it is picking up the word of "upon" in the "grep -i UP" piped command.

[root@OBRDB ~]# su vertica -c "/opt/vertica/bin/adminTools -t view_cluster"
grep -i UP
    This file is created by the installer upon successful completion.
[root@OBRDB ~]#

You need to remove the case-insensitive search option of "-i", and the script will run just fine.

dbstatus=`su $1 -c "/opt/vertica/bin/adminTools -t view_cluster"
grep UP
wc -l`
