Having trouble configure SM

My environment is RHEL 8.4. Db Oracle 19c

After I run the configure file and enter the information of the db, I encounter issue message "INFO: sm: The root user cannot start the Service Manager system"

Please advise on how to proceed further. Thank you!

Dave, you need to be logged as user "sm" to run configure. And to work with SM either.

Thanks for your response. I'm not sure how I can log in as user SM. I ran the command getent passwd and there was no SM user

Can you give me more details on how to do so? Do I have to create new one? Thanks!

Dave, look for the the instruction chapter "Meet the Service Manager Server requirements",
for instance, https://docs.microfocus.com/SM/9.52/Hybrid/Content/install/sm_install/meet_sm_server_requirements.htm

"Create a separate user ID that owns Service Manager. Service Manager will not run from a root account. You only need root access to modify the system kernel, and mount the Service Manager DVD."

useradd -m hpsm

passwd Password

chage -M 99999 hpsm (password expire)

then use it as "su - hpsm"
