View approvals by group

A question, is it possible to have an approval view that has a specific entire group? I see that smax natively, is assigning approvals to each member of the group equally. Can that functionality be changed? Or can you have a view where there is a view by functional group? is that it only leaves a view per assignee.. And as I mentioned, the approvals are assigned to each person in the group, but the client needs a view of approvals by general group
