(SM) Support Tip: HPE Service Manager Doctor

HPE Service Manager Doctor

This tools is really useful in terms of collecting as much data from one single location. Support suggest customers when submitting support ticket to run SM Doctor to collect configuration and diagnosis data from Service Manager. This tool eliminates the need of excessive exchanges of emails between support engineers and customers before engineers can have all needed information to analyze a reported incident.

Service Manager Doctor tool collects these types of information:

  • SM server configurations and reports
  • Operating system configurations
  • Database configurations on the database server
  • Service Manager server logs
  • List of files in the %SM_HOME%RUN, %SM_HOME%RUN/lib/endorsed, and %SM_HOME%RUN/lib folders

Using this tool benefits a lot for support tickets because when troubleshooting SM Server issues sometimes Support requires specific details that normally are not going to be requested when problems are started to be diagnose but having the information in advance will reduce time spend just waiting on a response from email to confirm parameters or configuration details
